Tradition meets design!
The Lulu Boutique Hotel combines tradition and Mediterranean flair with surprising accents, unusual ideas and warm hospitality to create a luxurious holiday home. In the small town of Zebbug on the main island of Malta, the family-run hotel welcomes its guests in a 300-year-old stone house.
Five years of renovation and the passion of the owners has transformed the once dilapidated house with history into a special place to arrive and relax. The beautiful traditional structure of the house was preserved and expanded into today's boutique hotel through loving details and creative ideas. This is our land of waking dreams, say Luidmilla and Clive proudly during a chat in the beautiful inner courtyard. And if you let your gaze wander, you will immediately know what you mean. Authentic accommodation with a special charm and an extra dose of cosiness.

Experience the Boutique Hotel Lulu
I lie relaxed on the bed and take the time to let the beautiful feeling of space work on me. The natural facade gently reflects the warm light and my eyes keep wandering over the traditional stone ceiling. I feel a little like in the tower room of an old fairy tale. The next room offers a surprising twist, because that's where the coolest kitchenette I have ever seen is waiting for me. An old workbench as a work surface, beautiful woodwork as a sink and the glowing skyline of Mdinas and Vallettas in metal design combine to create a unique composition. Smiling, I climb the small spiral staircase, light a few candles, treat myself to a soft drink from the minibar and stretch my limbs in the warm water of my private jacuzzi. This is how good Maltese fairy tales feel.

What is special about the interior of Lulu?
A chandelier in a bird cage, a silver platter as a bedside table, a sewing machine as a stand for the sink and a workbench as a kitchenette. The ideas at Lulu are refreshingly unconventional.
In the house and yard there are numerous beautiful nuances that combine tradition and design. Paintings of the Knights of Malta adorn the entrance area, an old piano brings back memories and the first thing you notice in the sunny courtyard is a small colorful boat behind the outdoor pool. The traditional fishing boat, a Maltese luzzu, offers a more than unusual berth and promises dreamy hours.
Playful details, such as a turtle as a doorknob, a monkey as a lamp holder or creative metalwork, also reveal something new at second glance. In addition, there are high-quality materials, comfortable beds and the beautiful structure of the historic stone house.
Are all the rooms in the Lulu equally beautiful?
Every room is unique. Some suites offer more unusual design ideas than others, some offer more luxury than others, some offer more space; But the nice thing is, everyone is different. And everywhere you will find loving details, relaxing comfort and the wonderful traditional architecture of Maltese stone ceilings. For special requests, just ask in advance.
Who are the owners?
Luidmilla and Clive are living their dream. You are a host from the heart. Luidmilla was originally a certified auditor and now manages the joint boutique hotel. She knows the best places in Malta and also mixes delicious cocktails. Clive is a designer and gives Lulu its special charm with his numerous unusual ideas. He greets guests at any time of the day or night with a beaming smile and conjures up delicious local dishes in his small kitchen in the courtyard.
Why is the hotel called Lulu?
Lulu was the name of a well-known racehorse in Malta. It belonged to Clive's grandfather and is still part of the old stories at the regulars' table in Zebbug. After numerous rejected requests, one day the grandfather agreed and sold Lulu to another stable. But Lulu fled the paddock at the first opportunity and returned home.
Thereupon Clive's grandfather paid back the purchase price and the mare stayed where she felt most comfortable - on the pastures that she called her home. When Luidmilla and Clive were looking for a name for their hotel, the choice finally fell on the name Lulu. A fitting name for a place where every guest can feel at home.
Is there anything to consider before a stay?
If you have a rental car, park it in the side streets. The property does not have a dedicated parking space. For travelers without a car, a bus stop is within walking distance. At night the main entrance of the hotel can be opened with a code. Make sure to write these down before you go out on a night out.
When can you go to your room?
From 15 p.m. you can move into your personal realm in the Lulu. Do you need the room earlier? Inquiries are worthwhile. If the premises are available, early check-in is often possible at no extra charge. Should this not work, the cozy inner courtyard promises a perfect start to your holiday. A drink at the bar, sunbathing areas by the pool and a covered seating area will make you arrive safely in Lulu's oasis of wellbeing in advance.
Can I also eat in the hotel?
The hotel does not have its own restaurant in the classic sense. Since Clive likes to cook very well, it is possible to have dinner at Lulu by arrangement. A menu card is available in the room.
Sometimes a delicious dip, some fruit or local cuisine is spontaneously offered to try. A rich breakfast is included in the room price and is served daily.
