Subantarctic Island
South Georgia
Cooper Bay
Cooper Bay is located in the southeast of the sub-Antarctic island South Georgia. This bay is the most southerly place on the island, which is approached on expedition voyages. Cooper Bay is very scenic, but the small bay is particularly well-known for the breeding colony of golden-crested penguins.
In addition to these funny-looking fellows, king penguins, gentoo penguins and seabirds can also be observed. Numerous Antarctic fur seals call Cooper Bay their home and at times elephant seals also use the small stretch of beach. Varied animal sightings are guaranteed.
Tourists can also board an expedition ship South Georgia discover, for example on the Sea Spirit.
