The majestic nymphaeum of the ancient Jerash in Jordan had two floors and was a sanctuary for the water nymphs. Originally, water was piped from the surrounding area into containers of statues. From these the water flowed into a well. Frescoes, marble cladding and a semi-dome in the roof are further special features.
The old roman city Jerash was known in its heyday under the name Gerasa. In addition to the nymphaeum of Jerash, she has many others points of interest & sights to offer.
