Subantarctic Island
South Georgia
Salisbury Plain
Most people associate the name Salisbury Plain with Stonehenge. Rightly so, because the World Heritage Site is located on the Salisbury Plain in southern England. However, there is a second, lesser-known but no less fascinating Salisbury Plain: in the north-east of the sub-Antarctic island South Georgia.
The small plain is framed by mountains and glaciers and is one of the most fascinating places in South Georgia. Embedded in untouched nature, around 250.000 king penguins breed there. An unimaginable number and an indescribable experience. This is the second largest king penguin breeding colony on South Georgia.
Tourists can also board an expedition ship South Georgia discover, for example on the Sea Spirit.
