The photo shows a Roman amphitheater in the Roman city of Jerash Gerasa in Jordan. The North Theater was built in 165 AD and is one of the top attractions.

In the ancient city Jerash in Jordan two amphitheaters can be marveled at. The northern amphitheater of Jerash has about 800 seats, which is significantly smaller than that South Theater. Inscriptions indicate that it was built for political gatherings in the early 2nd century. At the end of the 2nd century, instead, musical performances, poetry and readings found their way into the theater walls.

The old roman city Jerash was known in its heyday under the name Gerasa. It is still very well preserved because it was buried under desert sand for a long time. It offers many interesting ones points of interest & sights.
